Tips for the perfect cookies
-
Room Temperature Ingredients: Ensure ingredients like butter, eggs, and dairy are at room temperature before starting. This helps in achieving a smoother and better incorporation of ingredients in the batter.
-
Follow the Recipe: Baking is a science. Follow the recipe precisely, especially when it comes to measurements and ingredients. Even small deviations can impact the final result.
-
Preheat Your Oven: Always preheat your oven to the temperature specified in the recipe before placing your baked goods inside. This ensures even baking and proper rising.
-
Sifting Dry Ingredients: Sifting flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cocoa powder helps in aerating the ingredients and removing lumps, resulting in a lighter texture.
-
Don't Overmix: When combining wet and dry ingredients, mix until just combined. Overmixing can lead to tough baked goods. A few lumps in the batter are usually fine.
-
Properly Measure Flour: Spoon flour into your measuring cup and level it off with a flat edge for accurate measurements. Avoid packing the flour into the cup.
-
Rotate Baking Sheets: If baking multiple trays at once, rotate them halfway through the baking time. Ovens can have hot spots, and rotating ensures even baking.
-
Cooling Time: Allow baked goods to cool completely on a wire rack before storing or decorating. This prevents sogginess and maintains texture.
